As homeowners embrace FireSmart practices, it will make a big difference to the safety of everyone in the community. However, that process will take time, and in the meantime, we need to be prepared to stop fire from spreading by having systems in place. We encourage every homeowner to prepare to defend theirs and their neighbour's property in case of fire. Home protection systems can include water storage cubes with gas powered pumps ready to action fire, roof top sprinkler systems, and basic tools such as rakes, shovels, and other hand tools. We have been fortunate enough to procure funding to purchase and equip a community water trailer, and also, individuals from the community have gone the extra mile and set up their own portable water trailers that they are ready and willing to take to a fire site. Thank you to everyone who has done that! One community water trailer can't manage a fire on its own; it takes a whole community to fight a fire!
